Some Good Down Time.

(WUUKY photo by Brittany)

I hope you can see the anarchy symbol burnt into the pancakes in this picture.

Doug has been finishing up a bunch of stuff this week, so we didn't leave for boston mid-week as planned. This probably for the best, as its been hot as hell everywhere in the country and its just starting to cool down in some places, so we probably won't hit the worst of it.

Also, I've been able to chill out and get ready in a methodical fashion instead of in a last minute blitz. I spent a couple days in Gilroy pruning the roses in my grandpa's garden, burning new music from the library, making a hemp necklace with all my conference beads, hangin' out with the family... listening to my grandparent's worry about all my traveling ("How much is all this going to cost!") Needless to say, my grandmother has a very different idea of traveling than I do. Hotels and restaurants add up to at least a hundred dollars a day...

Yesterday Jacque, Frank, and I took advantage of the last free transit day in the Bay Area and we went to the City. We didn't really do much of anything except shop for music and a new purse for Jacque, but much fun was had. Our amusement pretty much came from the quirks and misery of others: a man who used his whole face to chew, and a dog who crapped in the middle of the street during rush hour, while its owner digs out a plastic bag from her purse (our hero!) Oh, and holding our breath through tunnels. Afterwards, we went to the Secret Base (Jo and Eric's house) in Redwood City to play Ticket to Ride (a railroad building game) and watch the Daily Show and the Colbert report - which have only gotten funnier as Bush has provided them with more material.

And if you get a chance to watch it, my friend Kate sent in a letter to Colbert concerning his search for a new black friend. She offers a Filipino in exchange, and the letter is well-handled. Kudos. The title of the video is "Stephen's Friend Exchange Rate."
